A Nuclear Iran unacceptable

It looks like no matter which presidential candidate wins, they have the same stance on Iran.
"A nuclear-capable Iran is unacceptable to America"

Will the U.S. go to war against Iran in the future?  How soon? Will it be justified?
Will Canada be expected to provide support?

  1. I think they will send troops into Iran, why would they not they've sent them into every other Middle-east country? Like we have learned "war makes an economy boom",so with the U.S having such a bad economy at the moment why not boost it up and going to war which they actually have a reason to go to war for. After they seize the nuclear plants, they will probably seize all the oil fields too. It will be like the same thing they did in Iraq.

They will not go to war until their election is over and if Iran has not stopped, I estimate they will send troops in by late January-early February.

Canada will be excepted to support the U.S and most likely Israel as well. I think Canada would support them because of our close alliance with the U.S, but to try and make peace in the Middle-east for once. If we weren't going to support the U.S we would not have cut all ties with Iran. It’s like a growing city if they are putting new water pipes in the ground to the outskirts of the city most likely they are going to build. Well if you cut all ties with a country most likely you are against whatever they are doing and will go in to stop it to protect other nations.

  4. This is my weekly post:

Personally, I think the United States will definitely go to war against Iran. At this point, it seems to be of a when they will go to war, more so than if. It has already been said that Iran will not listen, or cooperate with the United Nations when they tried to peacefully resolve this issue (1). They, at this point, do not seem to be letting up because of the sanctions. Iran's currency has dropped 80%, their oil production are at their lowest levels in 20 years and Romney is threatening to not allow ships with Iranian oil to come to United States ports. This is the strongest sanction that Iran has ever put on them, and still the Iranian Government is keeping up the nuclear weapons program (2).

Now, Iran's crippling economy is not just because of the United States, because Europe also has a big part in this. 27 countries in the European Union have agreed to impose new, tougher sanctions on Iran (3). Last month 19 Iranian channels were cut off to the countries within the EU. Along with this, they have also taken additional measures regarding trade, energy, transport and financial sectors. Lastly, they have banned the important of Iranian natural gas into their nations (3). This is why I feel that war will happen. The Iranian Government is still continuing with the nuclear weapons program, even though the country is in shambles.

With all that being said, I do not believe that the United States will be the only country go to go war against Iran if this continues. In fact, officials in Britain have said it is a matter of when, not if war breaks out in Iran. They have even given a timeline of 18-24 months (4). They have mentioned that they are ready to support and defend Israel. Aside from this, they have also been talking with the United Stated planning military intervention together (4). Germany has also made comments such as, "A nuclear armed Iran is not an option". Officials have also said that military use is not being ruled out and that they will stand up for Israel (5).

In regards to Canada, I believe they would be expected to provide support. Not only because the United States would be going in, but also because Britain would be too. However, I feel like Canada would decide to go in anyways, because it has been made clear that we do not support what Iran is doing. Minister of Foreign Affairs, John Baird, has said that Canada is committed to fighting global terrorism. Harper has also mentioned that Iran is the most significant threat to global peace and security (1). So, it would be likely that Canada would go in to fight if need be. In conclusion though, it has been made clear by a few countries that if Iran does not give up on their nuclear program, they will take a stand against it through war.

  5. As we have seen in the past, most of the american wars have been due to one thing: money. Since Iran is sitting on a lot of oil so there most definitely will be a war in the near future, the american economy depends on it.
