Two video requests came to me last week a tad late (ahem), but I feel they should both be heard out or at least viewed.
No marks at stake here as you already have your assignment for the week laid out, but feel free to watch and comment as you wish. The first from Laura and 2nd from Benji.
After watching the video about a world without America I thought that it focused on all the positives of them being around and didn't look at the negative side. Yes there are positives to take from it, but also consider all the things that their government, people and corporations have done to this world. American companies have and continue to violate human rights all over the world and their government does as well; they say they are looking for terrorist when really they are the ones bombing neighbourhoods all over the middle east and killing innocent. They also produce the most amount of waste, imagine even one day when every smokestack and vehicle were shut off for the day.
With regards to them being a military super power, if it they weren't around then some other country would have filled it in, maybe even worse than the Americans. Also, in a world without American are we saying it just being there one day then disappearing over night or has it never been there? If it vanished over night then it could have very serious repercussions for everyone around the world. But if we're talking about a world where America has never existed and never will then I think that things would balance out, since it had always been like that, it would have been the world's natural state forever so the rest of us who are still here would have gone on, one way or another.
